Hi @sateesh_k10 does the user guide installation procedure not work for you?

You should have pretty much everything that you'll need in the User Guide:
https://docs.cumulusnetworks.com/display/DOCS/Installing+a+New+Cumulus+Linux+Image

Are you planning to install over the network using the ONIE waterfall (after setting up the correct config in your DHCP server), or via USB? USB is "simpler", if this is your first ONIE or Cumulus switch.

The install document has a link to the ONIE waterfall docs:
https://opencomputeproject.github.io/onie/design-spec/discovery.html#partial-installer-urls
and also contains simple configuration examples for a DHCP server.
Hi,

I am planning install on dell switches, here is the method am following.

Access the switch through web

onie-install will only work if Cumulus Linux is already installed. First time installs need to be from Rescue Mode or Discovery Mode in ONIE (Discovery Mode is the default if you just let the switch boot up with no NOS installed).
Hi,

As per the dell document, couple of switches comes with ONIE if so, can i proceed above steps ?

"EMC Z9100-ON supports the industry standard Open Network Install Environment (ONIE) for zero touch installation of alternate network operating systems"

if not, i would like go step by step ..

Yes, using the install method from ONIE, as I said in my first reply, and as is discussed in the User Guide section that I mentioned.
Thanks dave..

I have provided information what i am going to do.

you referring to go through ONIE waterfall method document (which is not user friendly) or other one

can i follow below steps or not?

Assign mgmt IP to switch(net add ..)
Access the switch through web
upload the cumulus image through winscp/http
sudo onie-install -a -i https://

NO you can't use onie-install unless Cumlus-Linux is already installed.

The onie-install command is not present in ONIE itself.

You can use onie-nos-install from within ONIE. Please read that User Guide section completely.

If you still have problems, you can contact the Cumlus Support team, and they can walk you through it.
Thanks dave and appreciated!

Hi,

ONe more question, can i enable and work with FRR CLI, because FRR CLI is similar std networking CLI? or quagga is better (net ...?)?

OR

I can choose any CLI mode which i am comfortable.

You can use the frr cli directly via vtysh. quagga is a much older predecessor of frr, and is not supported on Cumulus after the 3.4.0 release.

Or you can use the nclu 'net' command to do frr and other configuration. Search the User Guide for more info.
Got it, appreciated quick response 🙂
do i need to change any conf file to make FRR work or just login into cumulus and enable sudo vtysh and execute the commands.

You'll have to enable the routing protocols you want (BGP, OSPF) in the `/etc/frr/daemons` file, then enable and restart the FRR service. See more here.

Sateesh, we also have an online bootcamp available the will guide you through these basic configuration steps: https://cumulusnetworks.com/support/networking-training/

The next one is planned in EMEA timezones, but we'll have one in more US friendly timezones as well. As soon as a date is scheduled, it will show up on this page as well.
