Question

MLAG Peer Link : Seperate L3 Link Needed ?

Hello,

Trying to find out if I need a separate physical link between my 2 switches that are in a MLAG for layer 3 traffic .

for example :

SWITCH A SWITCH B
peerlink.4094[swp51]--------------------------[swp51]peerlink.4094
[swp50.300]---OSPF Adjacency---[swp50.300]

Thanks

Hi @scott pledger you don't have to have a separate physical link for your L3 traffic. But keep in mind this note from the MLAG documentation: SVI MAC addresses are not learned over the peerlink so forwarding data plane traffic laterally to the peer switch results in flooding and high CPU utilization.

Although this may be fixed in the near future.
