Hi,

We have about 30 switches in 4 data centers. Can you propose or give me some clue what open source tool you use to collect and monitor basic logs from multiple devices?

Data i would like to see are:

  1. Linkstate of ports
  2. BGP protocol routing changes
  3. Critical, important alerts that should be acknowledged by NOC operator.

Best Regards,

Hi Oto,
Nagios is a great open source tool, been around a good long while and is pretty comprehensive. It will do what's in your list plus a lot more.
Solarwinds is paid software, we've deployed this several times and it works quite well.
OpenNMS is another free tool and you get a lot of functionality with fairly easy setup.
We've used lots of others but cost puts them out of the running for a smaller network.
thanks
